The domain registration authority, Nominet, has the power to transfer an Internet domain name if the name is being used in an improper way. It has a dispute resolution service, which adjudicates disputes over the use of domains. In a recent instance, the 'www.fayed.co.uk' domain was ordered to be transferred to Mohammad Al Fayed after it had been used to post defamatory material about the owner of Harrods. Nominet's expert ruled that it was an 'abusive registration'.
