Aston Bonds Employment Law Seminar

Last Thursday, Aston Bond Law Firm played host to our “Workplace Challenges Facing Employers” Employment Law Seminar. The seminar was a fantastic opportunity for all Senior Managers and Employers to gain useful insights in managing key issues that can arise with employees.

The talk was held by Senior Solicitor and head of employment, Ilinca Mardarescu. Ilinca covered important challenges such as persistent and long term sickness with your employees, giving critical advice on how to manage this effectively and if and how termination can be executed.

Our seminar started with half-an-hour of mingling with the guests, greeting them individually and making sure they were welcomed and well acquainted with key Aston Bond staff; establishing good relations with local business, big or small, is extremely important to us and this was a fantastic opportunity.

Once all our scheduled guests had arrived, everyone was invited into our boardroom where we were all set up to begin the seminar. Ilinca covered the important subjects of performance issues with employees, helping all the guests understand how to manage poor performance and how to put in place a correct disciplinary procedure, as well as discussing how best to manage sickness in the workplace.

Finally the important concern of Holidays and Sickness was discussed; a challenge many employers are faced with. She talked about how to tackle these issues in the fairest ways possible, and also spoke on what to do when an employee becomes sick whilst on holiday, and carrying over holiday for employees on long-term sick leave.

The seminar finished with a question and answer session which our guests found extremely useful. A quick questionnaire on how we preformed was passed around, and we’re pleased to say our hard work paid off with a very positive response! Our evening was finished off with delicious canapés being offered to all our guests by a team of caterers.  This opened up more conversation and has built many great connections with all attending businesses.
