Charity Dinner

Aston Bond LLP attended a Charity Dinner  to support the enrichment project for Turkish speaking migrant children and their families in Enfield.

The programme  is devoted to educating mothers in how to engage better with their children… Evidence collected in Turkey regarding the MOCEP is convincing that parents can be taught both new skills and additional knowledge related to child rearing, specifically “reflective parenting skills”, and can be helped with their child’s particular developmental issues longitudinally.  The challenge here is to see whether the positive results obtained there can be repeated with the Turkish speaking groups in North London.”

Aston Bond LLP recognises their corporate responsibility towards the community whatever background they are coming from.

Why are businesses all around the UK failing?

Comet, Jessops, Blockbusters, HMV…. if these big businesses can fail so can any business, as have Cobbetts Solicitors this morning.

So why are businesses all around the UK failing?

One reason is that customers and clients today have changed how they buy. This is largely due to the internet, our growing preference to start the buying process online and our clients expecting transparency and something different. By not adapting their lead generation process and not understanding what their customers truly wanted and how they prefer to buy today companies like Jessops and HMV quickly lost their market share.  Forward thinking, innovative and customer centric competitors took their business from right under their nose.

The second reason is the lack of an effective lead and client generation system that takes prospects from online to offline so that you can convert them into paying customers.

Customers and the new wave of savy clients out there that we need to attract to stay in business have changed how they buy…. so we need to change how we market and sell to them!!

Sunday Trading Laws Temporarily Stopped for Olympics and Paralympics

Under the Sunday Trading Act 1994, shops of more than 280 square metres can open for a maximum of six hours on a Sunday, and only between the hours of 10:00 and 18:00.

However, as of 22 July 2012, the Government have suspended Sunday Trading Laws for the duration of the Olympics and Paralympics.  This law received the Royal Assent on 1 May 2012.  This change will be in place for eight Sundays until the Paralympics are over on 9 September 2012.

There are many economic benefits that can come from this suspension, because consumers will have the choice to shop for more hours on a Sunday.  Keeping shops open longer could help retailers generate more than ten million pounds in increased profits during London 2012.  Furthermore, many employees may be happy to have the opportunity to have increased or different hours on a Sunday.

Nevertheless, given the short time before the start of the Olympics, the Government have also temporarily reduced the usual period of notice that employees must give their employers if they wish to not work on a Sunday, from three months to two months.

Business Minister Norman Lamb has indicated earlier this week that this will be a fantastic opportunity to showcase the whole country to the rest of the world and provide a boost for the economy.

The suspension will only apply in England and Wales and will only be a temporary measure.

Shaken and stirred, Aston Bond’s guests enjoy a glittering night out

Aston Bond Party

Letters of congratulations flooded the Slough law offices of the business which dares to be different in its legal approach as well as its networking.

From the moment glitzy invitations arrived guests knew they were in for a treat and they weren’t disappointed.

Company co- founder and chief executive Stephen Puri pushed the boat out in every way from the young Sean Connery look-a-like who brought the new Aston Bond “Bondman” branding to life.

The look-a-like, played by Donald Standen of www.actionheroevents.com, really got the crowd in the mood for having fun. There was non-stop entertainment from arrival at the riverside Red Lion Hotel in Henley. Saxophonist Mike Taylor strutted his stuff throughout the evening and a Bollywood style show performed by professionals from the Dancing Nikita Company had wow factor.

Guests who would normally chat politely at a business event even let their hair down and had impromptu lessons in the glamorous dance form inspired by the Hindi film industry in Mumbai, India.

Following a champagne and cocktail reception, they enjoyed a stunning array of canapes and Indian cuisine during a lavish supper where there was an opportunity to relax and network and make new contacts and plans for the New Year.

Typical of the comments received is the following from Owen Jesseman, Commercial Manager at Lloyds TSB Bank who said: “Thank you very much for the evening – a great success. Met up with some well known faces from the past and hopefully some new ones for the future.”

Rob Kerrigan from Kempton Carr Croft, Chartered Surveyors, said it was the “ best event of 2011” . “ Wow what a party, congratulations on an excellent evening”, said David Wood-Griffiths from Lloyds TSB Commercial, backed up by Sanjeev Malhotra who enthused: “I had an absolutely brilliant time.”

Aston Bond is a familiar face at networking events and many members supported the party in force. There were representatives and members of  Thames Valley Chamber, Maidenhead Chamber, Refer-on, Success Network, Athena and Baylis Media as well as executives from corporate businesses, estate agencies, surveyors, accountants and other professional consultancies.

Speaking on behalf of Thames Valley networkers, John Welburn, Founder and Chairman of Refer-On Limited said: “Thank you so much for the extremely generous invitation to your superb Christmas Party. The venue, food, dancing and company were fantastic.”

Kam Mitra, The Best of Slough Managing Director, had a great time: “I thought the event was superb, I met some really interesting people and businesses and made some great contacts. The atmosphere was light hearted and people were enjoying themselves immensely “

Similarly Mark Hodges of Sherriff Mountford Estate Agents at Burnham sent congratulations the following day. He said: “It was good to see so many people there and having fun.”

Carla Delaney, Baylis Media Business Editor added: “If there is licence to thrill, Aston Bond has it. Thanks for a great party, totally different from any business event I have been too – a hard act to follow!”

With more than 200 guests attending it is not surprising that the Aston Bond party took over several floors of the historic hotel overlooking the Thames and many guests stayed from early evening into the small hours.

“This is exactly what I had hoped. I wanted an event which would bring an array of business people together which was completely different from anything people would expect from solicitors and the comments I have received made my planning and hard work worthwhile. It was brilliant seeing people enjoying themselves so much,” said Stephen Puri.

The hotel was overjoyed to have such an unusual and well-supported party. Mandip Gill, the owner of the hotel said: “It was an absolute delight to host such an evening. The event went down very well and it just worked. I have known Stephen for many years now and it was typical of his style and personality.”

The event was also an opportunity to unveil a super hero artwork which will be an important element of marketing and branding this year. The character, who has the blend of traditional and unexpected, which Aston Bond is famous for, features in a new website under construction and is also now a major fixture of Slough town centre on a giant advertising hoarding on the Observatory building opposite Tesco.

It heralds a year with many ambitious plans including a move to new purpose- built offices for the firm which is shaking up the legal profession with modern ideas and thinking and a fresh approach. The business is run on a commercial model based on an exciting vision driven by the passion and enthusiasm of its entrepreneurial and extrovert owner who has worked for traditional solicitors and knew the time had come to dust off the dusty image of lawyers. It is one of the reasons he drives an Aston Martin and likes the ethos of the James Bond character who is a clever blend of traditional and unconventional – something Aston Bond is known for.

Many of the high net worth individuals, as well as small and larger companies who have formed relationships with Aston Bond, enjoyed the special party. They are looking forward to working with the firm which takes the trouble to really get to know its clients and give them special attention and excellent service.

Aston Bond is a full service law firm with expertise in company, commercial, property, litigation, family, immigration and employment law.

Stephen is often asked what is so special and different about Aston Bond compared to other law firms and he simply answers: “Until we understand the client as an individual or as a business, we simply cannot add value and adding value is what we are all about”.

Many agreed to be filmed on the night giving their take on Aston bond and, without exception, clients commented on the flare and attention to detail which makes Aston Bond so different.

“We believe we can help our clients if we understand them and build effective and long-lasting relationships with them. We know we can truly help our clients achieve the most from their businesses. It was good to meet them socially. This has got us off to a great start this year.” Stephen added.
